White Begonias w/ creamer

14" x 18"

oil on canvas board

The purpose of this painting was to try to paint the whole thing using all neutrals, from warm to cool, with a touch of high chroma.  I read this yesterday but can't remember where. I also wanted to try using a bigger brush, as suggested by Kathryn Townsend (thank you Kathryn) so I wouldn't get hung up on little details.  This is a bigger painting than I have been doing and I finished in one day, so there must be something to it.  I also used the palette knife and painted on a board I had with a dark gray ground.  For the first time I prepared by doing small value sketches, but I don't want my darks to be as dark as I have been painting.  I think in this case, the lights could be lighter.  I have special problems with foliage, so if anybody has any suggestions, please get in touch.
