Apple and Pears

10x10"
oil on canvas-covered board

As I was trying to think of a name for this little painting, what came to mind immediately was the shapes, and I remembered that they say there are two body types for women, apples and pears, and how I wish I had been born a pear, but apple I am and there's nothing to be done about it.  Anyway, the colours are not quite true here; the bottle is greener and the yellows are less intense.  The old licor bottle  was dug up in Africa where my nephew bought it and brought it back, dirt and all.  The pears are mine and I just love their shapes.  Am very impressed at the time with work by Giorgio Morandi so there will be many more still lifes with bottles and boxes, etc.
