Miniature Roses
Oil on canvas paper - 5 x 5 in
Day 5 of September Strada Easel Challenge. Struggled with this as the second layer was pulling off the first layer of paint. Maybe I used too much medium. Maybe it was because of the canvas paper. Who knows? On with another!

Thanks, Diane for the flowers. ( I should have painted them when she gave them to me fresh from her garden but I kind of like the dried flowers. )

Pink and Yellow Roses with Reflection
10 x 10 in. oil on canvas
Almost a year since I've posted as I have been in a slump because of the pandemic, or, that's the excuse I'm using. These roses are from two rose bushes I bought for my little patio and the focus is the reflection of the glass vase on the wall. I used Dennis' method and am pleased with this first try for the year.

Peonies in White Pitcher
Oil on canvas , 12 x 12 in
First time ever painting peonies and of course the only ones available are silk, but they seem so real. Will do several of these until I really get the hang of it. This is for Dennis' Portrait of the Flower course.

Red Hibiscus
Collection of Alberto and Vala Sucar
Oil on Ampersand board - 8 x 8 in.
A quick study (has to be as these flowers only last one day) for Dennis Perrins Flower Course. A single flower. There will be more of these. Not a finished painting, but I like how it looks.

Lemon and Vase
Oil on canvas panel - 8 x 8 in.
Had a great time today with this little study. First I looked at the video Paul Foxton made for this webinar, then I laid out all the colours he suggested, and then started the video again and painted along. Never finished a painting so fast. Learned several things about shadows and values and how to smooth out edges. Dennis Perrin would have a fit!

Oleander and Tea
Oil on canvas - 12 x 12 in.
Single Rose was deemed too light and not enough shadows, so here I made a point of starting with really dark darks and ended up with reasonable dark shadows which is what I wanted. Bottom photo was taken at night and not a true copy.

Single Pink Rose
Oil on canvas - 10 x 10 in.
First assignment for the Dennis Perrin online course Painting the Flower Portrait. Easier said than done. More to come.

Silver Coffee Pot on Fuschia
oil on canvas - 10 x 10 in.
I think I got a little too ambitious with this one. Third study for Foundations Course of the Dennis Perrin Method. I never did get the colour of the cloth,as it is really fuschia, or magenta and not so pink. Started off with a very dark background and decided on the blue-green which goes better with the ground colour.

Wine Decanter with Handle
10 x 12 in. - oil on canvas
Second small study for Perrin course, this one being glass. Next, silver.
